April 21st is Kindergarten Day....
I love kindergarteners...they are so honest and real. So excited to learn. Not that I have any more children that will attend kindergarten....but our school district is considering going full day. I don't know how I feel about that....I don't think I like it. Think it is too long a day for those little ones. They need mommy time too.
This word art is in honor of them.
RETIRED
Enjoy~!

ReplyDeleteThank you for freebies. Link on your post was added to Lori's freebie list
ReplyDeleteThanks for the freebie! The schools where we are have gone to all day kindergarten, and I felt the same way at first. Now, though, two of my three are done (or in, in number two's case), and have done really well with it. They attended half day head start and then pre-k, so they were pretty well ready for it. I think that, in areas where these aren't offered, though, that you are absolutely right...they need more time for the transition from all-the-time mommy time to afternoons-only mommy time. My second actually cried when she thought she was only going to go half days again, because she wanted to be 'big like sissy'...
ReplyDeleteThere is a lot of research to support full day kindergarten and many people pay and wait in line overnight to get their kids in in our state.
ReplyDeletethank you!
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with you that 4 & 5 yr olds should only be in school half days, but what do I know? Besides most moms these days are working and not home anyway. So the schools end up parenting. As a teacher-in-training I've seen some things that make me very sad for the children growing up today. I'm glad there are teachers who truly care & make the difference. Thanks, Paulette, for the word art!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much!
ReplyDeleteI love kindergarten and thought at one time I wanted to teach kindergarten. Our distict has had all day KD for maybe 12-15 years already. So Sad. My DGS is in a full day of headstart at THREE ! Poor little guy. Makes Gramma sad. Thanks for the great word art. Hugs...

ReplyDeleteThis is neat. Amber will be in Kindergarten next year and this will come in handy. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the freebie. My daughter teaches kindergarten. Yes a full day one too. They have a rest time in the afternoon. She puts in 12 hour days 5 days a week and then half of Sunday. She loves it! Because of the age change...today's kindergarten is really the first grade of 30 years ago.
ReplyDeleteWaaaa! I guess the end of your day is different than mine as it's not quite yet midnight here and it already says retired. I need to be quicker next time, I guess! lol Thank you SO much for all the fabulous freebies you post! They are all deeply appreciated!
ReplyDeleteAw, got here too late tonight! Maybe next time. :) Can't be greedy; you are so kind to share all the images you do! I look forward to seeing what you've created everytime I visit here. Don't have any kindergardeners either, but that is a cute phrase.
