I had some spare moments last night, and I was going through some old bookmarks online. I was so saddened to see that so many of the designers that used to share their creations as freebies on their blog are now closed.
And the sadder part is, that their last messages were still standing though.....and guess what the common thread in all those last messages were.......they were so disheartened by the lack of appreciation and support of the visitors using their freebies. Same thread in each post.....so many downloads, so few comments.
And as many of you feel that you can leave it to the next guy to comment to show some appreciation....the next guy feels the same way too..........I'll leave it to the next guy.
Somebody time for me how long it takes to say "Thanks"
Soon there may be no more freebies from these great designers.....how very sad that they were not respectfully appreciated.
Paulette, you are so right. While I don't take advantage of many "freebie" digi images, I do think it is so awesome when people generously share their hard work with all of us! Thank you for sharing your with us so generously!
ReplyDeleteThanks for all the great freebies , I do appreciate them and you. hugs...
ReplyDeleteYou are so right Paulette, so many disappearing and I would hate for you to to go too. I don't always get here for a visit but love your work and really do appreciate the freebies. Thank you. hugs, mo xxx
ReplyDeleteThank you Paulette, for continuing to share freebies and ideas with us. Norma W
ReplyDeletePaulette, I'm sad about the digi designers who have closed their shops recently, too. We all lose when there are fewer creations out there to enjoy. I think you're right about the mindset that "someone else will do it." That sure seems to be more and more true of volunteer jobs at church and school. I hope you know your work is much appreciated, and more importantly, it's pleasing to the One who really matters. You have shared many beautiful Bible verses and other Christian words of encouragement over the years which point to the Lord and glorify Him. Thanks so much!
ReplyDeletePaulette, I really do understand what you mean. I don't take advantage of all your freebies but if is there is something I like then I certainly do, and I'm sure I add my thanks. However, do you not find this happens in all walks of life? I am amazed that people no longer even say thank you for birthday/ Christmas presents these days. Takes me back to my childhood when my mum immediately sat me and my siblings around the kitchen table to write our thank you cards after Christmas. A very sad indictment of the times I'm afraid! Hugs Christine xx
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Paulette!!!! You are appreciated!!!!
ReplyDeleteI agree Paulette, I always try to say thank you and when I use them I always link back to your good self.

Dear Paulette, Thank you for sharing your work. I made hundreds of cards for Operation Write Home. I always tagged each card with the designer's name when I used a digi stamp sentiment, drawing or colored art. I am very thankful for the inspiration your talent brings to my creative outlet.
ReplyDeleteThat is very sad!!!! I always say Thank you Paulette!!! Have a Fabulous weekend!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteYou are so right Paulette ... I will also try to comment more because I admire work of artists so much - your digis and freebies are fantastic and I thank you for them!
ReplyDeleteI also don't like when people use digis and freebies and don't give credit to the artist.
I agree. People look; but don't take time to comment. I appreciate you and your hard work here. I love your freebies and I am grateful that you are so willing to share them with us. I always comment on my blog when I use one of your freebies. You are appreciated! Hugs, Gloria

You are so right Paulette, we think our lives are so busy nowadays, that sometimes we forget to standstill and appreciate our lives.....So Thankyou Paulette for all the freebies and your time and effort you put into your wonderful site

We love the freeeies you give & do appreciate them hugely. I try to say thank you on each download, but do occasionaly miss, for which I am sorry
ReplyDeleteI so agree Paulette, every-time I have downloaded something from where ever. I say thank you, it's just wonderful of these designers to share their talent. I even say thank you for some tutorials I have read or seen on video.
ReplyDeleteI make a point of saying thank you when I snag a free digi. It's nice to be reminded though. Hubby and I often hold doors for people and it's amazing how many don't say thank you. There seems to be a general lack of manners these days. I appreciate your freebies and I'm grateful you share them. Enjoy your weekend!
ReplyDeleteThanks, for all you have given us.

Totally agree Paulette. I haven't been visiting for a very long time -just see things in my sidebar - but am very happy with loads of your freebies which I keep in a special folder! As you might remember, whenever I use something on a card I sent you a picture and please please don't give up like so many do! I lost many followers, people prefer FB and the easy "like" instead of taking the time to write a nice comment which I think is very sad but in our world NO TIME seems to be the most important 2 words!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for everything, take care!!
Hugs from Holland xx Irene
Thank you Paulette! I will admit I have been one of the guilty... And it breaks my heart to think I contributed to someones sadness. And for that I am so very sorry. I don't use every freebie offered but I know I have used many and didn't stop to say Thank you. I will correct that mistake from now on. I know for some it is to little and too late. But I will try my hardest to think of the person offering the gift first.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for making this post, sorry I had to get hit between the eyes to see it.
You are so appreciated Paulette!
XO Nana
Yes, it is certainly sad that people just take, without giving the generous person something as simple as a Thank You. I am sorry to say that I am guilty myself sometimes. I get your goodies in my Email, download it from that and forget to come to your site with a Thank YOU! I do truly appreciate all that you do so here is a big THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU for the times I have not come to the site to do so. Forgive me....................
ReplyDeleteI've always appreciated what you and the other designers do! Thank you, Paulette, for reminding us all to verbalize that appreciation! I was on your very first design team, and have loved your images from the get-go! Hugs, and a huge thank you!!!
ReplyDeleteI appreciate you too Paulette, you are wonderful for sharing and make our days fun with your hunt games, hugs!
ReplyDeleteSo true. I know I have taken a image and have been the only person on someone's site to thank them. I also agree with it is the way of people these days. Just holding a door open for some else and next thing you have held it for 10 people and not a one will say thank you. But I'm one of those that says your welcome and they turn around and just look at me strangely.
ReplyDeleteI agree with everyone and want to say "Thank You" again for the many images you have generously shared with us!
ReplyDeleteThis is so sad - I very rarely do not say thanks, and think it so rude when people are so busy 'getting' they forget to even be polite.
ReplyDeleteBlessings
Maxine
Unfortunately, you are correct. I very much appreciate your talent and that you share it with us. I also think that if people take the time to look and download, a simple "thank you" isn't hard to do.
ReplyDeleteI've said it before and I'll gladly say it again... Thank you for sharing your talent with us and for lovingly offering your free word art to us! You are truly appreciated!
Thank you, Paulette. You are appreciated yet under appreciated if that makes sense. You are wonderful.
ReplyDeleteHi Paulette, as the saying goes 'manners maketh man' (and woman) a little appreciation goes a long way so like many others above I too give the designers of stamps, word art and digi's a nod and a link to blogs or stores and have tagged them in blog posts when I've used them... many thanks to you for all the lovely wordart, sentiments and vintage images you so generously share with us... Megan
ReplyDeleteIt is very sad Paulette,I agree with you.It only takes a minute to say thank you but so few seem to do it.Not surprising so many designers get discouraged and give up.I appreciate your freebies very much and always leave a comment when I do download any. Thanks again,so much for all your generosity in sharing with us!
ReplyDeleteyou did write a sad post and i was going through a bunch of old links and noticed the same thing - so many people have moved on!
ReplyDeleteit really only takes a minute and there is an easy way to say thanks -
1. First go to the comment section and say thank you!
2. THEN go and download
That's how I do it and it works every time!
Thanks Paulette - you are great!
Thank you for your continued freebies! Sorry more folks don't stop to thank you!
ReplyDeleteOh, yes I totally agree Paulette - it is sad. I often get 250 odd downloads and just 2 people bother to say thanks !!!
ReplyDeleteI always say thank you when I take a freebie, so why can't they just stop a minute and show their appreciation ?
Ah well, such is life I guess but it is a shame :-(

Hello, Paulette!
ReplyDeleteI am just coming back after two years of not doing cards and not blogging at all... when I started to visit the sites I used to go in the past, I found the same you commented in this article. It is very sad people don't appreciate and take a minute to say thanks.
I always remember, many years ago, you gave a freebie and we all have to figure out the password: "a word we say when we are thankfull", and it was a lady (don't remember who) who couldn't figure it out the password because it was "THANKYOU".
I hope people changes, there is always hope for change.
Many hugs,
Ardilla
So many do not thank these days. From a note on here to a short little wave for letting one into traffic. These things are not something that have to be done, so showing a little appreciation for them can go a long way! Thank you for ALL the things you share.
ReplyDeleteknow that I do so very much appreciate YOU! :) thanks for all you do!
ReplyDeleteI have been neglectful in showing my appreciation for all of your hard work in sharing with us your free items. I love being able to increase my bundle of great things I have to use for myself. I am so glad that you share with us some of your hard work and great designs. Thank you so very much for all you do!
ReplyDeleteThank you all for stopping to share your feelings on this....it also helps us artists get an idea of what people like, so more of those are created. and Ardilla....what a memory~!
ReplyDeletePaulette
Very sad - thank you for the freebies you give to us - I am sorry to read many digital artist have closed their doors - I agree with Fit Kitty when she mentioned she holds doors for people and people fail to say thanks - reminding is wonderful to say thanks- and I want to write - thanks for sharing your heart. Have a blessed week.
ReplyDeleteWell, in my defense........if I have to register with a blog site ("Open ID, Google, etc. to be able to comment, I must confess, I don't comment. (I prefer making my comments as anonymous.) I join as few sites as I can. With spammers and placing cookies on my computer, I try to limit who I give my info to. You make it easy, I can be anonymous. So thank you, Paulette, for all your freebies.
ReplyDeleteYou're right on how sad that is. I appreciate and thank you for all of your wonderful images and word art!!!!
ReplyDeleteMuch love, hugs, and friendship
And it only takes ONE CLICK---JUST a second to share how valuable contributions have been to growing each individual person's skills and fun. THANK you Paulette for the reminder for all!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the good reminder! It is easy to take for granted that a new freebie will be out there for us. We must not neglect the talented people who work so hard to bring us such beauty at no cost to us! And you, Paulette, are one of the most generous and talented out there! THANK YOU SO MUCH!
ReplyDeleteOften I want to send a "Thank You", but I regularly am short on time. So when I have to hunt for a place to write a thank you, I (regretfully) have to move on. But, when there is time, I do try and let you know how much I appreciate all your hard work. Plus when I have to hurry but like what I see in your posts, I save it and go back and look at all your lovely offerings. Again, thank you.
ReplyDeleteHahaha, Paulette... My memory is not so good but I remember because it was so unique, it was so easy, a password for "dummies" but, it was unknown for some :)
ReplyDeleteLove, Ardilla
When I am in the clubs- I do not stop by as often. Cane today to see the inspiration by the DT : ) God Bless you- I love to use the sentiments you create- always the perfect one!!!
ReplyDeletePaulette, I have to admit that sometimes I am guilty of this. I download my favorite sentiments from you, and use them on many of my cards and ALWAYS link back to you, but I sometimes forget to say thank you just because, not just when I take something from you. I can imagine it takes a lot of heart and effort to do what you do, and it certainly does not go unnoticed by the seasoned crafter who they themselves know the insult of the insinuation that handmade is easy.
ReplyDeleteI greatly appreciate all you do, and look forward to your sentiments every day because even if I don't find a use for all of them, they often make me smile like opening a little mini gift each day, and I can always find something in my TLC collection that fits the occasion.
Thank you for everything! And I'm sorry it has to come to you asking for gratitude. Please know that you have a lot of fans who are grateful for what you do.
