Let's talk, Angel Policy and TOU of artists.........don't stop reading........read all the way through........freebies are at stake.....My terms of use are pretty liberal.....and very generous.....a lot of other artists are also.
There is no professional artist out there that does not state that minimally you need to give credit for anything of theirs that you use in completed creations or reworked freebies, etc. Mine state that very clearly.
Please, please, please know each artists TOU before you plaster their goodies all over the internet.....if you don't know....then ask.....I have never just deleted an email that asks about my terms.....
I know there are some of you that can get very nasty, and don't really care what we say, because you believe there is nothing we can do about it.............oh contraire.........a lot of artists are getting fed up with the misuse of their creations..........so maybe I won't take you to court, or get an attorney after you............maybe.............BUT.........we can stop handing out freebies..........and that would be very sad for everyone.
Please give credit where credit is due.
totally agree with you and it's so very sad when the credit is not given!!!!
ReplyDeleteWell put, Paulette! Sorry that you and so many other artists have to deal with this issue so often!
ReplyDeleteI'm afraid that the people you're addressing won't bother to read your message. Sad but true. And to think it's so easy to give credit, espcially on the Internet. It's the best way to say thank you to you and other artists that are still sharing their work for free.
ReplyDeleteI'm fairly sure that I keep within the TOU of all freebies that I use. I generally send an e-mail with a link to my creation or post a comment on the post where the freebie came from. That way, the original artist can have a look at what I've created. Okay, it takes me a little while to do that if I've created a few cards, but not as long as it took for the artist to create the freebie in the first place! I really appreciate all the freebies that you and other artists have provided Paulette.
ReplyDeletexoxo Thank you for all of your hard work!
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear your still having so many problems.
ReplyDeleteThat's a BLASTED shame. All that needs to be done is attach a link to your blog. They can the send people here for themselves.
ReplyDeletePeople are so greedy in this age of instant gratification.
So very sad. They punish those of us who abide & are grateful for your generosity.
TY for sharing with us. So sorry there is a threat to our relationship.
D :)
Sorry you have people that do not follow the rules - i love your freebies..
ReplyDeleteI made a birthday card yesterday using 2 of them. I use your freebies for "PERSONAL Use". I only hope the young lady that I made the card for likes it.
Again, sorry you are having people that are not grateful and do not follow the rules of the tou.
"ditto" to all that has already been said. So very sad and maddening.
ReplyDelete"ditto" to all that has already been said. So very sad and maddening.
ReplyDeletePaulette, I am so sorry that this is happening to you and others. It is just common curtesty to give honor or credit where it is due and I am sad that the people think they can just distribute yours and others work and not pay a price in the long run. I have seen other digi artists work in Pinterest and it makes me upset. I am standing with you 100% Hugs, Cathy K
ReplyDeleteHi Paulette, l'm so sorry to hear what is happening and can understand how upsetting it can be for yourself and others l adore your images and would always specify where they came from when used your so generous and don't have to give freebie but but you do and l'm so grateful as are others l support you too 100% take care:) x
ReplyDeleteHi Paulette, Sorry to hear you're having problems, and can only image how horrible this situtation makes you feel. I love your freebies and know your digis even without having to look. I just love making cards for family and friends, when I save an image if the artist hasn't but their name in the digi name then I put it in before I save it. Its only fair.
ReplyDeleteYou are so generous with your digis.. all, are pieces of art. I am grateful for your generousity... with free papers, sentiments, digis ... its everything a papercrafter could want. You have all my support also.
Take Care
Mary
Dear Paulette
ReplyDeleteI have used a few of your freebies to leave messages on my friends facebook pages. Would you like me to credit you in future when I do that? I know that I have already done that in a few cases but not always.
I have used your wordarts in some of my layouts and when I add them to galleries I always give you credit.
I make a few papers myself and give them away as freebies but I make sure that I read the designer TOU before I use any of their overlays. If they are not CU then I won't use them.
Luv Chris
ARGH !!! I feel your pain. Some people need lessons in good maners. It only takes a split second to say thanks or give credit. THANKS for all the wonderful goodies.
ReplyDeleteSo sad that this is a subject that continues to cause problems for so many artists.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear this once again. It is so sad that some people can be so inconsiderate to those who do so much for others. Thank you so much for everything you do.
ReplyDeleteCarol O
I find it hard to comprehend that others would 'rip you off' (and others) as we say here in N.Z. So sorry to see that you have had to bring this up again.
ReplyDeleteBlessings
Maxine
i try to always give credit to the artist. If you ever see I have not, please let me know. I love your work! Thank you for the freebies and those I buy. Edwina Brown
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry that people take advantage. Sometimes things download & don't have the artist name on it but yours always is so clear. I would hate to lose the freebies you give. I hope that whomever will take heed.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to see this raise it's ugly head again. It's so simple to state where something came from...this is even worse than not saying thank you when getting the freebies you are so generous with.
ReplyDeleteR/
Absolutely agree!
ReplyDeletePaulette,
ReplyDeleteThank you for your work. I love your designs.
Please people, give proper credit. These artists work hard and are generous in sharing their work. Show some respect and give credit where due.
Oh no Paulette - not again!!! I totally agree with everything that everyone has already said. I always try to give the correct credit to individual artists and include a link to their blog/website when I'm doing the "write up" on my blog ... even where I've paid for something.
ReplyDeleteI really do appreciate the goodies that you and other artists give for free, and I'm sorry that the minority don't have the manners to act courteously, or within the law.
Helen x
I agree, it is such a shame. You and so many talented artists are so gracious to share your talents. Thank you so much!
ReplyDeleteHow difficult is it for someone to spend 5 minutes and create a credit & link line when they use someone else's work on-line? Or to spend a few extra minutes to add a credit to a card? Most people add a 'created by...' to their own cards. It only takes a couple extra moments to add where you got an image. I do my very best to read an artist's TOU and ensure that credit is given where credit is due on everything I create. In fact I create 'notes' where I copy down an artist's TOU so that I can easily reference it. Even if the card is for my husband and never leaves the house, it has a credit line on it. I'm so very appreciative of the digi artists out there, like yourself, who offer freebies. I couldn't make cards without you.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry that some people do not have the common respect to abide by these simple terms.
Lisa D.
Those of us who care, read and abide. Those who don't care won't take the time no matter what. Unfortunately more feel entitled than thankful.
ReplyDeleteYou spend more time creating then I do to link. Of course you deserve all the credit and more! Thanks for all you have done, Paulette.
I love to give credit for the items I use in my cards! I don't understand why this would not be standard practice for crafters! I'm so sorry that some people use, abuse, and take advantage! It really is a shame that these people could ruin it for everybody! Your generosity is appreciated more than you know!
ReplyDelete{hugs}

I agree with all the comments already made and want you to know that I am most grateful for all the freebies you post Paulette. Roxy
ReplyDeletePaulette I am so sorry. But there are so many of us that are so very thankful for your awesome work.
ReplyDeleteI purchased your commercial license for the word art I use, but I try to credit everyone for everything when I post it online. My little blog has next to no real traffic and I'm not even sure if I have posted any of your things there, but of late, I am trying to post where I got everything, including supplies. It is so helpful to me as a blog reader to see that information, and it only makes sense to reciprocate. License or no License, you deserve credit for your amazing word art.
