  8. When originally ordered, the request was for a "good bell of about two thousand pounds weight." The bell cracked the first time it was tested.
    The bell was recast, however, Philadelphians did not like the sound.
    The Liberty Bell is the result of the second recasting. It weighs 2,080 pounds.

  11. Wow - I have had a US History Lesson today! I've been fascinated reading about the Liberty Bell's history.

    Weight (today) : 2,055 lbs (just for interest sake!)
