Pony Express Day....
Just love how interesting this poster is....
You must be skinny and wiry and willing to risk death daily.....Orphans Preferred....They did apparently make 25.00 per week....which must have been a lot of money back then.

ReplyDeletePresumably they wanted orphans as there was no one to care if they were killed! Thanks Paulette - found this one interesting.
ReplyDeleteGreat poster thanks Paulette - orphans preferred as the family can't sue???

ReplyDeleteLove the new look on the blog! And the pony express poster. Can't believe how many of these people know nothing about it. It is a major part of western history, but had a huge effect on the entire country.
ReplyDeleteAt least they were honest about what they wanted in an employee! LOL
ReplyDeleteThanks for the fun image, Paulette.
Wow! My husband watches all the old westerns on tv . . . this would be great on a card for him! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteLove this poster! Thanks so much for sharing it. The kids at school just read an article in Scholastic News about the Pony Express, and they'd love to see this image. They couldn't even grasp the idea of mail taking weeks and months to get across the country. Everything is instant now with emails and text messaging!
ReplyDeleteWow, Life has changes so much, it was harsh back then. Now it is harsh in other ways.
