I make different things each year. Last year I canned salsa and gave that away. This year I learned how to bake bread, so I'm giving away loaves of bread. I also made wool mittens and will give those to friends.
I try to make at least a few things each Christmas to give out as gifts. This year I am making a mini photo album made from paper bags with my boy's sports pictures in it to give to my mom. I am also making Christmas cards as well as making the gifts my kids will give to their classmates at school at their Christmas parties. It is an exciting and fun time!!!
Thanks for the sweet freebies today. I designed my own Christmas cards this year. Also I made shower gel, soaps and lotions for family and friends for Christmas. A little handmade gift is so special. If I have time I will do some little goodie bags yet but my Mother-in-law is dying and not expected to live past Christmas so we live one day at a time.
We have a tradition in our family where the adult couples exchange gifts, but they must be hand made. We have been doing it for 8 years now, and my brain gets taxed to the max each year, but it is super fun making things for others!
I make peanut butter fudge every year for several folks who request it. they get mighty touchy if they don't receive it as a gift! ;) I love homemade gifts for the holidays!
Hi Paulette, I was thinking of making some tealight cards instead of X-mas cards for family and close friends and maybe a kind of candy box for the ones we visit (just hope to have enough time to fix everything).
I did an oil painting for each of my boys for Christmas. We have a cottage on the Northumberland Strait and I did a picture of each son of mine holding their child's hand walking up the beach. I also made two rag quilts for my grandchildren - in the pattern of an I Spy blanket. I make all my own Chrismas cards. Made a couple of qullt bags for girlfriends of mine. I am going crazy trying to get all this finished and wrapped in time for the big day.
I have a lot more on my list this year, I always make a cross for my MIL. I have a scrapbook layout for my parents, 5 different photo books I am making, as well as small gifts for my nieces and nephews. We are also going to have our kids make gifts for each other this year.
I always try to give something handmade. I have been making my own cards for years. I give away plates and tins of cookies and candies to nearly everyone! The mechanic, the paper boy, the post office clerk, etc... One year almost everyone got a knit scarf. Another it was tied polar fleece blankets. It is along list :) Happy Holidays.
I usually make cookes, nut cluster, poppy seed bread and last year caramels. However, my health isn't what it was even last year, so not quite sure if I will get anything done this year.
Yes, I do. They are my preferred gifts. I love to cross stitch. My family draws names and the question is always, 'Who does Kelley have?' I no longer put tags on my gifts so they have to wait until time to open! :)
I love to make homemade goodies for Christmas! It varies every year, but i usually have an assortment of rice krispy treats, cookies, fudge, and truffles.
I make chocolate covered cherries; turtles; Pecan Tassies; Chocolate Drop Cookies; Hershey Kiss Cookies; Shortbread dipped in chocolate; Peanut Brittle and the best Sugar Cookies on the planet. I give all of it away to family, friends and nail tech, hairdresser etc. I put these items on salad sized Christmas Plates, wrap in celophane and tie with a ribbon
Yes, I make Christmas goodies to give away, fudge, Martha Washington balls, chocolate covered cherries, buckeyes, cocnut centers, truffles, date nut roll, I give this things to friends and co-workers.
Oh yeah, me, my mom and my sister in law and her two daughters all get together to make goodies to give away. We make, spiced nuts, church windows, fudge, oreo truffles, butterscotch peanut butter rice krispy treats, regular rice krispy treats, white and milk chocolate covered pretzels, no bake cookies. We are adding a couple of new items to our goodie menu this year, not sure what, my nieces are getting pick out a recipe apiece. I got lucky this year and won a big thing of Martha Stewart goodie boxes and bags and thats what we are packing up the sweets in.
I always make my own Christmas cards. Last year I also made peach butter, since I had a bumper crop of peaches. Also make handmade Christmas tree ornaments, and a card holder and assortment of handmade cards to go in it. R/

Thanks, Paulette, for the girl jumping rope! One tradition I do every year is to make family calendars for my mom & all my kids, with all the family birthdays & anniversaries on it.
